Ours is not your typical love story. There was no dramatic movie moment, no love at first sight and, apparently, absolutely no ability to get the timing right.
We actually matched on dating apps more than once over the years, but between questionable timing, other relationships and life generally getting in the way, nothing ever really came of it. Apparently we just needed a few practice runs first.
Then, in 2026, the timing finally worked.
From there, things moved at what most sensible people would probably describe as an alarming pace. We moved in together after just two months, started building a life together almost immediately and, in keeping with our apparent refusal to do anything in the conventional order, booked our wedding venue before we were even engaged.
And somehow, none of it ever felt rushed. It just felt right.
Alice also came as a package deal with Ralphie, who wasted absolutely no time making himself an important part of our story. He was even there on our first date.
Dan may have technically been dating Alice, but Ralphie clearly assumed he was conducting the interview.
Since then, life together has been a bit of a whirlwind, but very much in the best possible way. We’ve built a home, made a ridiculous number of plans, laughed a lot, probably spent far too much time discussing things that normal couples would decide in five minutes, and somehow ended up planning a wedding that feels completely like us.
Our story might not be the traditional boy meets girl, falls in love, proposes, then plans a wedding version. We seem to have shuffled those steps into whatever order suited us at the time.
Two years after finally getting the timing right, we’ll be standing together at Holmewood Hall surrounded by the people we love, ready to make it all official.
Our wedding might look traditional at first glance, but keep an eye out for the little details. There will be plenty of things throughout the day that are unmistakably us, from the music and the personal touches to, of course, Ralphie having his own part to play.
